Fair Housing

Everyone deserves a place they can call home. Over the last decade, Dallas has become unaffordable for working people with a 33,000+ unit gap in affordable rental housing. Democrats want to lower your rent, make homeownership an attainable goal, and ensure housing stability for working families.

Democrats support:

Protecting Renters: While Donald Trump has made his fortune through housing discrimination, Kamala Harris and Democrats want to ban corporate landlords from colluding to raise your rent and using algorithm-based software to keep prices high.
Keeping Communities Together:
Gentrification poses a real threat to middle and low-income families, threatening to unravel the fabric of our neighborhoods and communities. If elected, Democrats plan to build 3 million new homes and double the available funding to local governments for additional housing.

Making Homeownership Attainable: Buying and owning a home is a life goal for many Americans, and is a vital tool to build generational wealth for working families. Democrats want to make home ownership an attainable goal by giving you up to $25,000 in down payment assistance and additional tax credits for buying a home.

In Dallas-Fort Worth, the median home price jumped by nearly 44% in the last four years alone. Texans cannot afford to allow Republicans to put corporate profits over ordinary people, and we must vote for housing affordability by electing Democrats on November 5.
