Decriminalize Marijuana

It’s 2024, and over 24,000 Texans were arrested for marijuana possession last year. In Dallas, we have an opportunity to stop these arrests, saving our city millions of dollars in enforcement, and ensuring that our police are focused on real problems - not busting stoners.

Although marijuana decriminalization has support from Republican and Democratic voters alike, Republicans like Ken Paxton continue to block popular decriminalization efforts across Texas. Meanwhile, Democrats in Texas and D.C. are fighting to legalize marijuana in a way that would make our communities safer and save millions in tax payer dollars.

Decriminalizing marijuana in Dallas is on the ballot this November! Thanks to the dedicated work of Ground Game Texas and local organizers, the Dallas Freedom Act will be voted on November 5. By voting YES on Proposition R, you can help Dallas adopt a city charter amendment that would decriminalize marijuana and put an end to needless criminal convictions.

No one should be arrested and imprisoned for smoking weed. On November 5, your vote can make a difference. Elect Democrats who will champion criminal justice reform and end the senseless criminalization of marijuana in Dallas.
