Affordable Healthcare

No one should have to make the decision between paying for their medication and keeping their lights on. The Obama-Biden administration changed the landscape of healthcare in America, ensuring coverage for people with preexisting conditions, and ending the gender discrimination that required women to pay more for the same insurance coverage as men.

But there is still a lot of work to be done. If elected, Democrats will:

Expand the ACA: The United States spends more per person on healthcare costs than any other country in the world despite having some of the worst coverage for its citizens. Democrats want to expand access to affordable healthcare by extending a public option that would ensure affordable healthcare for all Americans and lower prescription drug costs.

Hold Big Pharma Accountable: Big pharma rakes in billions of dollars as millions of Americans struggle to afford life-saving medications. Last year, the Biden-Harris administration fought to cap the price of insulin and penalize drug companies who raise their prices faster than inflation. Republicans want to repeal these measures while Democrats want to expand the ability of government agencies to bargain down the price of certain high-cost prescription drugs.

Ensure a Healthy Start for Children: Texas currently leads the country in the number of uninsured children, a result of Republican policies that make it more difficult for eligible families to enroll their children in Medicaid. Democrats want to make it easier for children to gain access to the care they need to grow strong, happy, and healthy.

Right now Republicans are fighting to repeal the Affordable Care Act which would cause 29.8 million people to lose coverage over night. By voting Democratic November 5, you are voting for a future where everyone has access to quality, affordable healthcare no matter their age, sex, or employment status.
